Default Pop out

I had to go to the range in the middle of work just now to fix what I perceived to be too flat of a swing resulting thinned balls.

Then I remembered something about "pop out" that Brian told me in a lesson 3 weeks ago. I had actually forgot all about it and never employed the concept in practice sessions.

Loe and behold it seemed to fix my problem. I bought a second bucket of balls to be sure. Confirmed.

And I really have no idea why......

he said that I was popping out the butt of the club on takeaway and that I should not do that. he also said I was too far away from the ball and was aiming too far right.

when I started to not pop out the butt of the club, the other two problems curiously fixed themselves.

still not sure why

The first question would be whether you need to focus on not popping out.

If you have a laid off, too flat backswing, then the focus on not popping out could be perfect and important.

But if your natural instincts are to be fairly steep and perhaps a bit across the line anyway, then the no popout approach may get you too steep. If you're in this category, you might do better to focus on the NSA, flatter turn backswing.

I had been popping out REAL bad- I was actually using my right elbow almost pinned against my right side as the fulcrum of the backswing- like I was on the elbow plane.
